Troubleshooting

The other device does not show up

Both devices must be on the same network, and DropAcross must be open on both (on iPhone/Android the app must be in the foreground to receive). On Mac/iOS make sure Local Network access is allowed (System Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network, or Settings › DropAcross on iOS). Guest Wi‑Fi and some office networks block device‑to‑device traffic (“client isolation”) — use a home network or a phone hotspot. On Windows allow the app in the firewall prompt (private network).

“Could not reach the destination (timed out)”

The device disappeared, went to sleep, or the app was closed on the other side. Wake it, reopen DropAcross and try again.

“The other device declined (or did not answer)”

The receiver tapped Decline, or did not answer within 60 seconds, or its receive mode is “Known devices only” and your device is not in its trusted list yet.

“This device’s security key has changed”

A device with the same name now advertises a different key — typically because the app was reinstalled there (a fresh key is created) or because someone else is using that name. If you know it is your own device, open Settings and use Clear trusted devices, then send again. If you did not reinstall anything, do not send.

“Unencrypted — the other device runs an older version”

The receiver is on version 1.0.x. Update it to 1.1 or later; new versions encrypt every transfer with TLS 1.3.

Received file is missing

Mac: check the folder set in Settings (default Downloads/DropAcross). iPhone: Files › On My iPhone › DropAcross. Android: Android/data/com.oneable.dropacross/files/DropAcross (visible in most file managers).

Two devices have the same name

Rename one of them in Settings. Each device row also shows the first 8 characters of its key so you can tell them apart; the same key is shown in that device’s own Settings.

Security

• Every transfer is a direct TLS 1.3 connection between the two devices. Each device has its own key; the sender verifies the receiver’s key and the receiver verifies the sender’s before any file data is exchanged.
• “Always accept from this device” trusts a key, not a name — a device that merely copies a name cannot get in.
• Received files on Mac are marked as downloads, so macOS Gatekeeper checks apps and scripts you receive before they run.
• Receive mode Off makes the device invisible on the network (no announcement, no open port).

Free trial & unlock

• The desktop apps are free. Mac (dmg from this site), Windows and Linux are unlocked forever — no trial, no purchase.
• On iPhone, iPad, Android and the Mac App Store version, all features are free for 14 days on each device. After that, a one‑time unlock (US$9.99, ฿299 in Thailand) keeps sending and receiving working; files you already received stay accessible.
• One purchase covers Mac and iPhone/iPad (universal purchase, same Apple ID) — use Restore purchase on the other device. Android is a separate one‑time purchase on Google Play.
• The Mac version downloaded from this website never asks for payment. Get it from the Mac App Store instead if you prefer automatic updates and one purchase shared with your iPhone.
• Refunds are handled by Apple / Google under their standard policies.
